Home at last - England - 24/12/99
We made it home, in time to surprise the folks for Christmas! But first, what did we do before we got home?

Spent another 3 days in Todos Santos, soaking up the sun and chatting to the locals. Then decided to get the bus up to Tijuana all in one day, and spend a couple of nights there. We got the short bus to La Paz, meeting some cool Mormon people, hoping to get the first bus out to Tijuana, but they were all booked up until 8pm! So we spent an exciting day at the bus station with all our kit, and even attracted the attention of an undercover policeman, who asked to see our papers (thank God we got them!). So we didn't arrive into Tijuana until the next day at 6pm.

Tijuana is basically a town for American tourist debauchery, the drink is cheap, the women are cheap, and it is just 2 minutes from the good ole US of A. The place is just full of Americans, and Mexicans desperate to sell you anything. But still, it is quite fun! We bought a few gifts from here and got the tram back up to San Diego, and the train to LA. We stayed in Venice for a night, then hired a Pontiac and went to Las Vegas!

Viva Las Vegas! The place is awesome. We stayed in a cheap hotel, intending to move to a campsite the next day, but the campsite was just as expensive as the hotel, so we stayed in our huge room, with cable TV, and football pitch sized bed, on-suite bathroom, etc., nightmare! The strip in Vegas is cool, like a disneyland for adults. Loads of really cool, huge, themed casinos. They are all open 24hrs, and the food and drink is good, and cheap. There is always something going on, and if you don't feel like that you can go and watch the gambling, or have a go your self, we only spent 75c on gambling though, and lost it all!

After Vegas, we went to see the Hoover Dam, which is quite cool, and then drove back through the dessert toward LA, stopping half way in a place called Barstow, where there are cheap outlet shops, for big brand names, and we spent most of the rest of our cash! We stopped the night here in a motel (gotta be done once in America!) and drove back to LA the next day.

We just spent one night here before getting on the plane home.

And now we are back home! Its nice to be home, if a little on the chilly side! England looks a bit dreary compared to LA, especially Derby station - no change there then! But it is home and the countryside looked fab from the train. There's no doubt that we both appreciate what is good about Britain more than before we left on our little expedition.

We have both had a fantastic time, met some fabulous people and seen some amazing things (running out of adjectives now!), now its back to real life. Hope you have enjoyed keeping up with us, maybe we'll do it again one day....... TTFN
