The Bowlin Family
This Bowlin family came from North Carolina, settling in St. Clair Co., AL sometime before 1820. Through my research, I have found this name to be spelled several different ways; Bolin, Boling, Bolling, Bowling, Bowlen. But, the most current spelling I have found is Bowlin, so I will refer to this name using this spelling.
The very first Bowlin I have found was Thomas
Cotton Bowlin. He was born 1793 in either Moore or Montgomery
County, NC, and died about 1864 in St. Clair County, AL. Thomas married
Lydia Sheffield, who was born 1800 in Georgia. She is the daughter
of Adam and Priscilla Merritt Sheffield.
