Alabama Murrays in the Confederate Army

10th Alabama Infantry

    *    James C. Murray:  sent to VA in July 1861 where he fought in many of the early battles in VA.  He fought at the Second Battle of Manassas, and later marched with General Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg.  James was wounded in October of 1864 and hospitalized until March 1865 when he was furloughed home.  James was paroled at Talledega by Union Forces on 26 May 1865.  Ancestors of Morris Eugene Halliburton, compiled by Morris Eugene Halliburton.

    *    Hugh W. Murray:  died at Chimbarazo, Hospital #4, in Richmond, Virginia, of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.  He was injured in the first battle of Richmond, Virginia in 1862.  Ancestors of Morris Eugene Halliburton, compiled by Morris Eugene Halliburton.
 

5th Alabama Infantry -- Company C 

    *    Robert Augustus Murray:  served in various battles in VA and also served under Robert E. Lee in Gettysburg, where he was wounded and captured on 3 Jul 1863 -- he was held prisoner until the war was over.  He was sick quite often for most of the war, possibly from dysentary.  Ancestors of Morris Eugene Halliburton, compiled by Morris Eugene Halliburton.
