Work Information

Summary of Experience

Coming from a family of educators, I began to be interested in Education when I was young. I worked part-time teaching English to French speakers at Université Laval while studying French and English there myself. After graduating in 1995, I did some travelling and volunteer work which also involved conducting educational talks. This experience opened my eyes to the world and I accepted a teaching position with a large publishing company in Korea. I was working with children between 4 and 15 years of age where I actually learned more than I taught. I learned a lot about class management, preparation, working with others, and living on the other side of the world (see article at bootsnall.com), just to name a few things. After my first year there I continued my studies in education and completed a TESOL certificate in Canada. I worked in Pusan, Korea for about a year and a half when I decided to see a different part of the world. I accepted a position at a private school in Bucaramanga, Colombia. I also worked at a university there as a part-time professor and taught there for four years. I have recently made another move and I have been working for the Ministry of Defense in Kuwait since January 2002. I am now teaching a Basic Seaman course and doing material writing at the Kuwaiti naval base. I teach military personnel ESP courses and create materials for a new course being developed.
