December 15, 2002
Whew...so my internet connection at home is quite slow, and as a result, I have not been able to update this journal as much as I would have liked, but hey, that's life. Okay, so I believe that I left off with the completion of my finals (I don't want to know my grades) and after my last final on Wed the 11th, I basically chilled in my dorms for hours.
As previously mentioned, we did secret santa, and among the gifts include, books, clothes (i'll spare you the details), candy, mag lite, chess board, "weed" (i'm serious...), PSII games etc...On Thursday morning (Dec. 12) I wake up to find that Gavin is sitting patiently in the lounge "studying" for his math final after completing his chem final. From what I understand, the chem final was a breeze, while the math final ended up being a killer.
So Gavin continued to "study" (AKA: Play Half Life) while I packed up my stuff, resold some Ethnic Studies books back to the bookstore (I spent 100+ dollars on them only to get $14 in return) and waited for my mom to pick me up to go home for 3 and a half weeks!!! Gotta love the quarter system! It really does end before you know it!
So Friday, I woke up, made lunch, helped my mom make dinner and headed off to church for worship practice. This was the second time that we (Sam, Gav, Gabe, Myself, Tim - went home already) led worship and I must admit, we sound comparably better. Okays, so after that during college fellowship, listened to a sermon on tape about God's love as a husband and as a father. (Compared to story of Hosea...poor guy...married a prostitute, she leaves him (also has a kid that isn't his) only to be sold into slavery and bought back by Hosea...) Wow, we sometimes are like Gomer (name of Hosea's wife). Okays, so after fellowship, jammed a bit in the sanctuary, and I finally went home.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I have temporary insurance for Winter Break! So I can actually drive around, even if it is only my 87 Tercel.
So, Saturday, I wake up at around 11ish, make breakfast...err...lunch, and receive a call from Gav and Ken who eventually show up at my place for a rousing game of chess. At around 2, I drive the Ho Bros, pick up Jon Liu at his house and go up to NCF for some shopping. Dude...i've never officially gone shopping w/ friends during the holiday season before....and I must admit...it was fun! I kept on making random phone calls to people with my cell simply because I can and because I have free weekend minutes. So shopping w/ a group of around 20 asians....yea....that was awesome. I still dont know what to get people, my family in particular.
Amazingly, Saturday doesn't end there. Upon eating dinner (yes...i went shopping for ~4 hours...that's sooo out of my character) I went over to PQ to attend an MCHS orchestra party. Even though I sorta crashed the party as the sole alumni, I felt really welcomed...missed all you guys! So, we watched the Muppet Christmas Carol, walked around Christmas Card Lane and enjoyed the many festive lights etc...(I stepped in horse dung) and finally had a little campfire in the driveway of Jacki's house. Who could've known that burning marshmellows and sticks in fire would be sooo fun?
Sunday morning....wake up....drive to church after picking up Jon (wow, I haven't driven to church in such a long time, it actually felt weird driving a passenger to church, rather than being the person driven. Okay, so the apologetics lessons continue w/ Lesson 6, on proper methods of interpretating Biblical Passages, while the worship was slightly different today. PLuke donned a Joseph Costume who in the words of my brother "looked like Osama Bin Laden", and did an entire soliloquoy about the feelings of doubt, questions etc...that he was feeling. Then the shorter sermon than usual basically had the simple message of putting our trust in God in all things. (Trials, Joys, Difficulties etc...)
So after church, I planned on going to football, online to discover that a whole bunch of people were gonna go see the new Star Trek movie. What do I end up doing? Well, I end up staying at home, making lunch (wow...i'm getting good at cooking!), watching the fourth quarter of the Charger game (sigh...playoffs seem to be a distant memory) mowing the lawn, doing laundry, cleaning/weeding the yard/driveway, putting up the Christmas lights etc...Well...at least I got something productive done I guess.
Okay, so now it is almost 1 in the morning, so this entry technically shouldn't go under the 15th of December, but all well. I guess I'll go back to my chatting and finish reading "The Gospels According to the Simpsons". hehe....
BTW...if anybody wants to go see "The Two Towers" when it comes out....give me an IM/call....If you still dont know my cell number....ask and I'll tell you! Okay...that's it. Laterz and as always...take care! :)
