Someone recently asked me how I put a webpage together. Having been a teacher for many years, I have take up the challenge with a non-technical description of what happens.

Selecting

Selecting pix is fairly easy since many of the 40,000+ pix in my collection are divided into the categories you will find here. Since I've been at it for a couple years, my memory isn't what it used to be and I can no longer remember what's been used. So one pic goes to the new page folder and another to a used folder out of harm's way.

Editing

Every pic is edited for a number of reasons:

1. Reduce the size of the file; most of the JPGs were created using an older compression procedure. Just opening and and then saving with a newer compression algorithm can reduce the amount of space occupied by the file by as much 40%. That makes for more room on the host's computer for more pix.

2. Sometimes the size of pic is so large that the entire screen cannot contain it or so small the details are not visible. The size can be changed for a better pic.

3.Many pix contain distracting ads which can be removed:
