Work of '08

in front of madentec headquarters

I'm proud to announce that I joined the Madentec team as their webmaster.

Madentec is a Canadian company that helps physically disabled people “like me” to gain computer access or communication system access through their Assistive Technology software and hardware. Please visit our website at: http://madentec.com/intro/.

Oh yeah I'm still planning on writing for the Seahawks in the football season also. :-)

My first Seahawk check for 400 dollars

Finally, one of my dreams did come true. I'm now a Seahawk writer. Here's my first check from the Seattle Seahawks for $400 to prove it.

I'm writing for their Seahawks GameDay magazine. The Seahawks GameDay magazine is a little program that the Seahawks' fans can get for every home game that the Seahawks play. The magazine costs $3 but every cent goes to charities in the Seattle area.

My article is titled “One Fan's Perspective.” So if you're ever at Qwest Field for a Seahawks game, please buy a Seahawks GameDay program and read me.

Work of '02

Me in front of my Work Station

I FINALLY decided to update my Web page into the 21st century. Let's see, what I've been doing since I graduated in '97??? In October of '00 I got Hired part-time by Edmonds Community College, to be one of their Application Specialists-Intranet Developers. Believe me, that my title sounds a lot more complicated than my job actually is. I just create the Web pages and put them into their Intranet sever.

ALSO since '97 I have a brand new communication system. It's an Apple laptop, “Gemini from Assistive Technology Inc.” or “an original iBook” mounted in front of my wheelchair. Also mounted in front of my laptop there's a little display for my face to face conversations. By the way, my display says in the picture above, “Welcome to my page.” Unfortunately it's hard to see. I still operate my laptop by Morse code with my head switches. I communicate at about ten words per minute. Please click the picture above, if you want to see more pictures of me at work.

On July 20th '02 I went to the grand opening of the AWESOME Seahawks Stadium. Later on that day, my picture was taken with my friend Amber “a Sea gal.” Here's the link to Amber and I.

ALSO please check out the Seahawks Stadium Photos that my friend Robert Scanlon took. Sorry, I know that most of these pictures are kind of small, but I was worried for the dial-up users that the page would take forever to download.

Graduation of '97

me, giving my graduation speech

Yes, here I am graduating from Shoreline Community College, on Sunday 6-8-97. If you would like to read the article in the Shoreline week, just click here. Thanks to my friend, Cathy Reznicek who put this article up on the web in the first place. Also, I was one of the two student speakers that spoke at graduation. I did my speech on an Apple laptop computer. By using its speech synthesizer, I delivered my speech quite well, thank you. :-) If you want to read my speech entirely then please click on "Graduation Speech."

Rob, Sara and I

Here I am along with two of my best friends on my graduation day. The beautiful Sara Jeanette Hollingworth and the not so beautiful Robert Allen Scanlon. :-) They both helped me out big time on that day. Rob introduced me to the audience before I delivered my speech at my commencement and he made sure that my laptop was working for me. Also Sara graciously accepted my AA degree for me! I'm very PROUD to call BOTH of them my friends forever!!!

Thanks to the news that recorded part of my graduation. Also, thanks to Shoreline Community College for letting me digitized a part of my video, I'll show you when Sara accepted my AA degree for me. Please click on the words, Sara is accepting my AA degree for me.

Some Other Information About Me

Hi I'm Steve Harper, and I have Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy is a condition which I haven't got much control over my muscles. The things that I DO have under control are my head movements and my knee movements "side to side." So I'm really a physical mess! :-) I went to both Shoreline Community College and University of Washington. I thought that you might want to visit both the Dolphin and the Husky campus. I was actually employed by Edmonds Community College, "home of the Tritons." Please visit all three campuses that are important to me.

I also communicate in a special way, by using a Morse Code communicator mounted in front of my wheelchair. I thought it would be neat to put the Morse Code on the web for you.

I have my Resume for you to see. I'm a very good and dependable worker.

So you can see that computers really enhanced my life! So, I thought it would be nice to put links to the two main computers of today. Apple home page, the home of the Macintosh, my personal favorite computer. Also, Apple has a disability connection page. Also the IBM home page. Please check out these pages. Also, please check out Microsoft home page.

If you read the top part of my page and I really hope that you did! You'll understand that Assistive Technology is an essential part of my life. So I've got links to three of the better companies that makes Assistive Technology. Don Johnston home page, Madentec and Word+ home page are the names of the companies.

I also have two more wonderful sites that could help disabled people use their computers and their appliances “with remote control capabilities” more independently. The ZephIR it has hardware and software. The hardware is like a little microphone with a little red light in it, just point that mic to the appliance you want to control remotely. The software lets you click with your mouse “the remote control that you downloaded or you programmed into the ZephIR.” So it's like having a remote control or remote controls on your desktop. I can totally control my TV, VCR and Stereo using it. However the bad news is “I think” it's only for Macintosh. However the manufacturer has an e-mail address on the home page, you can ask about a Windows version. Also Kick-off! from Sophisticated Circuits is hardware and software if your computer freezes. It detects when your computer is frozen and it reboots your computer automatically. Nobody has to do anything. Please check these two sites out.

I'm also a DO-IT mentor for the disabled science students at the University of Washington. Here's the home page for DO-IT.

In the winter of '97 I took geology 100 at Shoreline Community College. I did a web page for the class, it's about Dinosaurs and especially Carnosaurs "a type of Dinosaur." Also my friend Casey and I did a poster on Candylarths "an extinct mammal." Please check these pages out.

Also, I'm a big NFL fan. However my beloved Seahawks got SCREWED out of a victory by the INCOMPETENT NFL referees. Please check this home made football site out!

Also, I love wrestling. If you would like to hear my favorite wrestler's theme song and a few other surprises, just click on this home made "Ultimate" wresting site.

If you would like to send me some mail, please feel free. My E-mail addresses are: Steven.Harper@me.com, steveh@madentec.com or Stevamundo@hotmail.com. Also please view my guestbook, and leave me a message on what do you think about my site.

Please look over the two missing children pages down below, and see if you can help. You know it's sick to even have to make these kind of pages. Nobody has the right to rip the hearts out of others, especially because of their sick and perverted pleasures. I realize that many children are kidnapped by a desperate parent and they are treated well. However couldn't the parents come to a compromise before that child looses a parent and one parent looses that child? This society is all about ME, most people don't ever consider others as well as themselves. We better start asking why. This section is directly under my Bible section, now is that just a coincidence or it's something else? You tell me.

The same Sara who you saw "her picture" near the top of my page, wrote a paper for her nursing program. Her paper is about the treatment for people who have Cerebral Palsy and have Clinical Depression too. As you can imagine this paper is medically orientated for doctors and nurses. However there's a lot of good information on Cerebral palsy and Clinical Depression. I think that nonmedical people will be interested in it too. So please check Sara's Cerebral palsy and Clinical Depression paper out. I just want you to know Sara, that your happiness means everything to me!

The Seattle Seahawks have been finally saved by Paul Allen and Football NorthWest. Please check these sites out!!!

Obviously I'm a real Seattle sports nut. Here's where you can find, the "Seattle Seahawks" and the "Seattle Mariners" on the web.

Why does the Seattle team's management get rid of their stars? It's ridiculous!!!

OK, I'm also supposed to be this highly "intelligent" college man, that communicates through a Morse Code computer. However I love heavy metal music. The Scorpions are my ultimate favorite band.
