Star Trek References In South Park

South Park Episode: City on the Edge of Forever

Star Trek Reference: City on the Edge of Forever

The only real similarity between the episodes is that they have the same name. The South Park episode does feature a kid in a Star Trek red shirt, who gets killed. "Red shirts", as they are known in the Trek universe, are famous for getting killed.

In the South Park episode, a movie producer grabs Mr. Hankey and says, "I have had enough of you!", then throws him against a wall. In the third Star Trek movie, Kirk says the same thing to a Klingon while kicking him in the face, and ends up kicking him down a deep crevasse.

Similar plots and characters, namely Doctor Adams and Van Gelder. Doctor Adams uses planetarium laser light shows to brainwash people. In the Trek episode, he used an overhead machine with flashing lights to do the same thing. Mister Mackey performs a mind meld.

Evil Cartman arrives from a parallel universe, soon followed by Evil Stan and Evil Kyle, all with beards. In the Trek episode, Spock had a beard in a parallel universe. Also, Stan had to choose which Cartman to send back. In Whom Gods Destroy, Spock had to choose which of two identical Kirks to shoot.

Stan raises his hand, does a Vulcan salute and says Jesus said, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" right before he died. Actually, this is what was said as Spock was dying in the second Star Trek movie.

At the end of the episode, Garrison says, "Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning." This is what Kirk said at the end of the sixth Star Trek movie. We, then, see the bus vanish is a flash of light, which is what happened to the Enterprise as it reached warp speed at the end of the movie.

South Park Episode: Hooked On Monkey Phonics

Star Trek Reference: The Gamesters of Triskelion

The scene with Kyle and Rebecca, the home-schooled girl, in her father's garden is very similar to the scene with Kirk and Shahna in the ancient city of the Providers. Some of the dialogue in the South Park version of the scene doesn't really make sense, but it's still funny to those who are familiar with the Star Trek episode.

Children tauntingly saying "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" is a common theme in both episodes. Also, a lot of people think that "the Before Time" was taken from the movie "Children of the Corn". I have no idea why, since it wasn't even mentioned in that movie, although there are other references to the movie. It was taken from the Trek episode "Miri".

South Park Episode: How To Eat With Your Butt

Star Trek References: Several

When the milk company employee accesses the computer, she does it by saying "computer". It responds by saying "working", then proceeds to give information in a mechanical voice. This is how the library computer was accessed in Star Trek.
