Days out in 2001
We would like to share with you our travels through 2001. Although there will not be as many as other years ( due to work at weekends) we hope you  will find something of interest.
(visited 28th May)
Doddington hall is situated just outside of Lincoln, and is a 400 yr old Elizabethan mansion completed by the architect Robert Smythson in 1600.  The Hall stands today exactly as it was built with its walled gardens, gatehouse and family church.  The Georgian interior contains a large collection of pictures, textiles, porcelain and furniture that reflects four centuries of unbroken occupation.  It has a knot garden featuring lots of flag iris, lawn maze, water feature and perenial borders.  Another fabulous feature is the Davidia Invollicrata  (Hankerchief tree) pictured here in full bloom, took 40 yrs to produce it's first flower..
Well worth a visit...

Belton House
Belton House situated just outside Grantham, 300 yr old Georgian building with absolutely beautiful gardens and parkland.  The day we were there, it was overcast, sunny, windy, cold, hot with odd showers, what a day, difficult to know how to dress. Anyway me and annie thoroughly enjoyed our picnic and walking around the place.  Absolutely worth a visit...
