Markala Church Receives Bibles Letter from Pastor Togo |
||||
The Markala Presbyterian Church was very pleased to receive 4 Bibles from the Unity Church of Albany. Pastor Togo of Markala specifically requested bibles in English. He is interested in improving his English, and there are 4 other people in the congregation who have some familiarity with English. Thank you, Unity Church!
In addition, the Presbyterian Church sends more pictures of their church, including the members waving hello to their sister church in Albany. Pastor Togo also includes a letter addressed to Unity of Albany. I have translated it here for you: ============ Presbyterian Church of Markala BP10 Markala, Mali Dear Reverend Jim Fuller and all the members of Unity Church of Albany, We are very happy to receive your correspondence, pictures, cassettes, and bibles. I have shared them with the congregation, who also enjoyed them. I would like to share some more of the history of our church. The Gospel Missionary Union of America arrived in Mali in 1919. They built the church in Markala in 1956. The congregation grew quickly, and 12 years later a larger church was built. In 1998, a third church was started, but it is not finished yet. I am the sixth pastor to serve the church, I began my service in June 1994. Markala is the third church that I have served. I am married to Doreas Poudeougo. We have 3 girls and a boy. There are many activities in the church. There are 2 services at 0900 and 1100. There are 2 prayer meetings each Wednesday, at 1600 and 1630 (4:00 and 4:30 pm). There are prayer meetings for women each Tuesday at 1600 and 1630, and each Friday at 1600 and 1630. I do a radio program during the week also. I do not work outside the church. We have largely the same beliefs as the Baptist Church. We believe in God and Jesus as the voice of God. Each time that I can give service in the name of God, I am happy. Miracles in the lives of people occur. Please pray for me and my family to continually be of service, for our Jerusalem, and the entire world. Please pray with us for the successful completion of our church. The funding has run out. Now that Stephen has left Markala, I would like to remain in communication with you.
