| Godolphin House has many mysteries. There are believed to be many secret passages through the house, possibly escape routes for Charles II. From the sealed closet a glimmering phantom, a lady in white has been seen to emerge and then glide across the terrace. Historians believe that she is the shade of Margaret wife of the First Earl of Godolphin, who died around September 1678. A funeral procession is seen walking from the house to the chapel too. |
