Stephen Maxon is an itinerant goatherder, illiterate midwife, and fully certified shaman and Shongo master, who resides in the rugged, treacherous plains of upstate New York.

Mr. Maxon enjoys yodeling, backgammon, rhythmic gymnastics, and removing the plastic strips from the tops of gallons of milk, for those who are not physically able to do so.

Statistically, he is most often found sleeping, followed by sitting.  Standing is a solid third.

Now that this book is completed, he plans to take a shower.

Children trust him.
