My Family History - Steve Dyke

************************************

************************************

This is not just a documentation of family history and lineage, it is an acknowledgement of admiration and appreciation for the fundamental qualities that characterized our ancestors.  For these qualities - love, hope, fear, faith and perseverance - cannot be accurately expressed in words.  It is in this recognition that I provide "My Family History."

I dedicate this seemingly very simple, yet, in fact, extremely complex genealogical biography to my wife, Cheryl, and my son, Allen - both of whom I love very much

Steven D. Dyke,  September 1997

"And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. ....... But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." (NIV, I Cor. 15:14, 20-22)

2G-Grandparents: The OVERHOLSER line will continue with Jacob OVERHOLSER, 3G-Grandfather. According to the 1880 US Census in Iowa, Rudolph Raymond OVERHOLSER was living with his grandparents, Jacob and Sophia OVERHOLSER. Rudolph's father's name is not available -- however, my speculation was supported by a story handed down in the MCKENZIE family (per Virginia OTT), that Rudolph's mother was Sophronia Angeline OVERHOLSER, daughter of Jacob OVERHOLSER and Sophia BROWER. Sophronia A. Overholser married Lyman MCKENZIE (widower) on 1 Jan 1866 in Johnson City, IA, and later moved to KS.
