The Garmin StreetPilot GPS Combines Global Positioning System technology with detailed electronic maps to bring Garmin GPS navigation to your Automobile. The safety and convenience of knowing where you are anywhere in the world, in any weather, 24 hours a day is as close as your dash.

Garmin's first product designed primarily for the automobile contains a world reference map showing Interstate, US and State highways, plus rivers and lakes in the US, Canada, and Mexico, with main arterial streets shown in metropolitan areas. Optional Metroguide Data cards can be programmed for street level map detail and access to business listings and points of interest in your area. To program a Metroguide cartridge you install the optional Metroguide CD-ROM in your PC, select the area you want to download and send it to the cartridge in the GPS.

Once a programmed cartridge is installed, all you need to do is enter a street address or business location and the StreetPilot will show you the destination and your position on the map.

Use the find button and follow the prompts to view the nearest businesses, attractions, shopping or food. The Street Pilot will not provide automatic route calculations, however it will prompt you with directions if you pre-plan your route. It is also an excellent mapping and information system for travelers.
