BOARD OF ALDERMEN The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City meet on the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. Regular meetings are open to the public. If you would like to address the Board at a meeting, please call City Hall to be put on the agenda. CITY HALL City Hall is open 8 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 5 PM Monday thru Friday. City Hall is closed on weekends and holidays. You can pay taxes, water bills and register to vote at the City Hall. Phone number is 669-3278. WATER SERVICE A $100.00 deposit is required on all rental properties. This is payable in 2-$50 installments. The first $50 must be paid before water can be turned on. The second $50 is due in one month. This is payable at the City Hall. If you move from town, you need to call City Hall to get a final reading on your water and to shut off the meter. Your deposit will be credited back to your account. If you have a credit, the city will mail you a check for the credit. Under no circumstances should a resident attempt to turn water on or off - please contact City Hall. TRASH Participation in citywide trash pick-up is mandatory. The City has a contract with Dennis Wilson Disposal to pick up trash every Wednesday A.M. Have your trash out by 7:00 A.M. You can either burn all of your trash in a barrel at curbside and he'll empty your burn barrel every week or you can set your bagged trash out at curbside in plastic barrels. You will be billed on your water bill. Regular residential charge is $10.25 per month. For more information, call City Hall. If you have any bulky trash (trash that won't fit into trash bags), you need to call City Hall to get this picked up. There will be an extra charge for these bulky items. The contractor will not take yard waste. WATER/SEWER/TRASH BILLS Bills will be mailed on or about the 1st of every month and will be due by the 15th. After that, there will be a 10% penalty added. If bill is not paid by the 1st of the next month, the water will be shut off until paid. There is a $25.00 fee if your water is shut off. WATER RATES $15.09 for the first 999 gallons, $7.94 per 1,000 for 1,000-4,999 gallons, $6.84 per 1,000 for 5,000-9,999 gallons and $5.94 per 1,000 for 10,000 and up. RECYCLE Curbside recycling is by volunteer participation, only. If you choose to participate in the recycling program, you need to have a green recycle bin from City Hall. There is a $3.00 deposit. The recyclables are picked up on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, right after the trash pickup. If you ever move or want to quit recycling, you can turn your "clean" bin back in at City Hall and get your deposit back. STREET LIGHTS If you notice a street light out call City Hall at 669-3278 and describe exactly where the street light is. NOTARY SERVICE The City Clerk is a notary public. All dogs must be licensed upon moving into town, then by August 1 of each year thereafter. You purchase dog licenses at City Hall. City license prices are: $3.00 - Male/Spade Female & $7.00 - Females. NOTE: If your dog is picked up by the City and doesn't have a city license, it will cost you $15.00 for the first time pick-up, plus $18.00 for each day's maintenance in the dog pound, and $10.00 for not having a license. That's $43.00 for just one day in the dog pound for the first offense. If your dog is picked up and has the proper city license and someone is home to claim the dog, the cost is $15.00 for the first time "running at large", second time is $30.00, third time is $45.00.
