Well, my full name is Mari –Alistine Victoria Thompson Moss, (kind of like the story of Ticki Ticki Tambo………). But since it would probably take five minuites to say my name, people call me Mari for short. My hobbies are singing, dancing, acting, writing, and of course READING!
I recently joined this group because I knew it would be an enjoyable and enriching experience to read and express myself- since I love to speak my mind. I am pleased to be apart of this group of wonderful ladies who are intellient, sophisticated individuals who come from different walks of life and can come together have fun, and really keep it real. The name alone “ Still I Rise” envokes a lot of sentimental value for me. When I was a teenager, I learned this piece and won first place in a competition where I had the chance to compete nationally. It is also my favorite poem and quite frankly an anthem for my life, to stay strong even in the face of adversity.
My goal and I believe my purpose in life is to reach young people in a positive way empowering them to aspire to higher hieghts through use of their own creativity. I want them to know that there is hope for them even when they feel hopless. I absorb every positive expierience I get and translate it into their terms so that they can hopefully use it to reach their dreams. I feel it is important that as we rise we reach back and pull up those behind so they can rise too. –Peace!
