Silence, an eerie stillness
darkness covered the earth
A lone man remained there
reflecting pain and hurt ~
Agony upon Him
He who did no wrong
But still He chose to bear the sins
of a world beyond.

Sadness, tears fell from His eyes
He could not wipe His face
A crown of thorns that rested
twisted in their place ~
Blood that trickled from His brow
within the midday sun
Stained the face of the man,
God's one and only Son.

Sorrow, pain within His heart
for the hurting souls
Bearing sins that were not His
as His grace unfolds ~
A world too troubled to see beyond
the pain and hurt and hate
To where this man hung on His cross
on a hill far away.

Agony, as the nails held
His body to the Cross
Pain wreaked through as He cried for all
the souls that were lost ~
"Father," He cried "forgive them
for they know not what they do"
As in His heart He cried that they
would one day know His Truth.

Grace has been given to us
cleansed by His precious blood
And as He hung there dying
He did it all for us ~
That we may know the glory
and one day we will share
In the promise of Eternity
with His love beyond compare.

Undying love, everlasting
until the very end
He stands right beside us
as our Saviour and our friend ~
Perfection in His loving eyes
He knows our every need
As we take our troubles to the Cross
and lay them at His feet.

Jesus, Saviour, Redeemer
You died for my sins
The sacrifice You made for me
for a new life to begin ~
On that lone hill far away
You bore the agony,
Upon the Cross You felt the pain,
You did it all for me.

but His love for You and me."
