And Jesus said unto him "Verily I say unto thee
Today you shall be with me in paradise."

Darkness fell across the land
not a word was said
A man who had been innocent
now hung before them, dead ~
Whispers spoken in the street
heartache, fear and pain
Vanished now without a trace
with all our sins and shame.
A cross they placed upon His back
although He did no wrong
He bore the sins of all the world
that day and beyond ~
The weight across His shoulders
no more than He could bear
He knew all that was still to come
yet no one seemed to care.
Nails driven into His flesh
as He cried out in pain
Looking straight into the hearts
He'd do it all again ~
A crown of thorns placed on His head
"Hail! King of the Jews!"
The man who shed His blood for us,
He died for me and you.
The hours passed the sky was dark
Jesus raised His head
"Father, into Your hands I place My soul"
He spoke with His dying breath ~
An eerie silence all around
as man saw what he'd done,
He killed the Son of God although
He had done no wrong!
The sins of man were laid to rest
and placed within a grave
And by the blood of Jesus Christ
we surely have been saved ~
The agony that He must have felt
as He hung upon the Cross,
Yet He did it all for you and me
so our souls would not be lost.
Saved by the blood of the One
who bore all the pain
Who did no wrong yet still He would
do it all again ~
The innocent blood of this man
was shed for all to see,
The Son of God was crucified
He died for you and me.

"This poem brings it straight to us ~ Jesus died for us. His blood has saved us, and we have been set free....all because He chose to die for us! What other way can one say it?"
