A bunch of us volunteers helped out when the lion rock got a cave and some new small rocks added. A building company donated concrete, wire mesh and man hours. The rest of us had fun shaping and painting the structure.
One really hot summer day, four of us from the Enrichment Team helped shift dirt for rocks. The rhinos needed clean dirt for their mud holes after a big storm. Fortunately, the keepers provided us with bottles of water.
When it's really hot outside, these fruit-sicles truly look delicious - hunks of fresh fruit and either water or poweraid. The girls made extras for Enrichment Day.
We shred old phone books to stuff tubes and boxes.
The alligators we have for animal encounters may be fairly small but the are quite strong and fast, and they have the usual 40 teeth and a feisty disposition. It's a good idea to be careful when handling them.
Oct.-Nov., 2003: Tom came up with a basic idea for a drum feeder for the elephants. Stefan further developed and build it; he calls it the Elepheeder. There is a hole in the lid and treats in-side. The drum spins but the elephants have to work it with their trunks.

Dec. 6: Here you see the girls try it for the first time. They were very interest-ed but didn't manage to spin it. Next step may be to lower the drum.
