Built in Tales of Suspence #40, Golden Armor, Model 1,Mark 2.
Most changes were cosmetic. It was constructed out of lightweight iron alloy, and gold plated for force field experiments and to give him a better image as Stark's bodyguard. Tony added a kilt on the armor, and made other adjustments for a better, and more streamlined look. But it's functions, and links were like the original armor. To help Stark keep his alternate a appearance secret, Mark 2 was built flexible enough to collapse into a secret breifcase compartment, allowing for a quick change of outfits. The chestplate had to be worn at all times to keep Stark alive, so he slimed it down so it could be worn under his shirt.
