Stitch To It Directory and Review |
Stitch to it Started out as a blog where I collected websites and made comments on them. After a while I got dissatisfied with it because you couldn't put the entries in any kind of order. These are in a broad sort of alphabetical order. In other words the A's are together, B's are together and so on. Making this totally alpahbetized would drive me insane and also leave me little time for eating, sleeping, stitching, playing with my stash, and not so incidentially my family. As always hope you enjoy. If you have comments, there's an email button on the home page. |

Anne Powell Ltd. Needlework and Sewing Tools Catalog Anne Powell is the kind of place where you come to look and drool over what you will never buy. Beautiful stuff, expensive stuff, stuff you tell your significant other to buy for your birthday. Silver thimbles, Chatelaines complete with all the little doodads hanging off it. Even a museum of antique tools. Come look, enjoy and pray you can afford something. |
Artisan Lokscroll Needlework Stands When I first saw this site, my immediate reaction was "God I want one!" What nice stands these are! And wonder of wonders, they have a table top stand that you can take with you if you go places or move to another room. Very nice, not the only game in town of course, but very nice. |
Bedecked and Beadazzled Very nice site if you are into canvas work (you can call it needlepoint if you like but it's wrong), or beadwork. They have counted canvas work, beautiful painted canvases, and interesting accessories. Some wild sissor fobs if you like that sort of thing. But I think scissor fobs are silly. |
Berlin Embroidery Designs - Traditional and Modern Hand Embroidery Kits in different embroidery techniques and merchandise as an alternative to cross-stitch, lots of embroidery. OK this isn't a cross stitch site and I'm a cross stitch person but I can't help myself because it's so gorgeous! Her kits are wonderful, great instructions and she will even comment on your work if you send her a picture. You can find blackwork here if you are a dedicated counted thread person, and lots to branch out to in order to spread your wings a bit. Check out especially her needle painting kits. A place I come to when I'm in a bad mood and get cheered up. Check out the site you'll see what I mean. |
Blackwork Embroidery Archives Nice collection of blackwork patterns. It's not been updated for a while, but if you want an authentic look this is a good place to come to. All patterns are from historical sources. |
Class Act Chat Summaries A collection of chat transcripts on a variety of embroidery topics and well worth a visit. The topics are informative, well presented and concise. I don't agree with everything, (like washing all your floss before you use it even DMC and Anchor) but this is a solid informative source |
Canvas the Point - your resource for everything needlepoint! Yet another canvas site (no I am not giving in and calling it needlepoint. Anything + point means lace. What we call needlepoint is more properly called canvas work and I am going to be annoying to you and keep calling it that). This is very much worth your time. Canvas the point is kind of an artist's coop. They represent various artists who do canvases for the needleworker. All are quite beautiful. Click on most recently added for the newest ones or check out the bargain corner for a deal. Prices are reasonable, you are only buying the canvas. |
The CARON Collection - Online Magazine and Thread Resource Dyed and Gone to Heaven is the online magazine of the Caron Collection. What can I say? These people make the very first silk thread I ever used, Waterlillies. I adore their stuff, it's amazing feels beautiful and looks even better when stitched. The site has product info, online classes, a gallery. Come here when you are starved for color and ideas. I LOVE this site. |
Copycat Designs Home Page What a treasure this site is! Tons of charts and all of them free. Not everyone is my taste but how can you argue the cost? If you want for a small fee they will print them for you. You can either print the charts or download them for reading with the pattern maker program. Actually printables are also savable as they are adobe files, the downloads aren't really necessary. They also have a nice guide to cross stitch basics, floss tables, cutting guides and metric conversions. A clean layout and look makes this an easy to navigate site. Take a look you will not be sorry. |

Brenda Franklin Designs This is the website of a designer where you can also order direct. Some beautiful designs can be found here. I was particularly taken by the stunning Victorian House, and the vast number of charted designs of dog breeds that she offers. A small number of shops offer her designs, more should pick them up she's unique. |
Cross-Stitch-Art.com Simply beautiful, beautiful charts! Wonderful Victorian houses, stained glass look, special occasions, oriental charts and more. You will love their page of spiritual designs. Well done, well chosen, and moving; just as they should be. The Victorian houses I mention also must be seen to be believed. The colors and details are quite authentic and there is a wide variety of styles available to suit. This one's a treasure. |
The Bronwen's Blackwork Library An excellent site for the Blackwork enthusiast. A wonderful tutorial on the double running stitch that's the basis of blackwork, that alone are reason enough for visiting. You will also find outstanding charts for Italian, and German patterns, English fillwork, and some really unique polycolor charts. This one is definitely on my list of favorites, a must for blackwork enthusiats. |
