Saint John Baptist Church

Before Saint John Church was started, services were held in the Old Bryan's Chapel.   Brother Bush was the minister.

Saint John Baptist Church began as a mission of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and was called the Pleasant Ridge Mission.

The first meeting place was a building owned by the Woodsmen's Lodge, located approximately one mile from the present church site, on St. John's Road.

The Reverend Earl Billiter was the first pastor.

Sunday, July 8, 1956, the Saint John Baptist Church was organized.  The Articles of Faith were read and the Pleasant Ridge Mission became Saint John Baptist Church, with 117 charter members.

August 26, 1956, the church bought a half acre of land and a building was erected at the present church site.  In 1968, an additional one and a half acres were purchased and a vestibule and sanctuary were added.  The new addition was dedicated in July  1968.  Granville Coblin did the architectural design, and Graves and Darnell were the builders.

In 1991,  additional Sunday School rooms and a fellowship hall were added.
