We present here a few images of our on-going Iconistasion renovation project.

Over a year ago, St John committed to renovating our Iconistasion to the glory of God. The New Iconistasion would reflect the multi-cultural heritage of our Orthodox community, with Slavonic style Icons for the Archangel Doors and Royal Gate, and with Byzantine style Icons on the main Iconistasion itself.

The first part of this project was completed with the installation of the "More Spacious Than the Heavens" Icon behind the Altar (on Holy Friday 2002).

In November 2002, the Icons of our Lord, our Lady the Theotokos and St John the Baptist were delivered. Work was already underweigh on the Iconistasion itself. Our beloved parishioner Jonathan Martin delivered the main pieces and Archangel Doors on Saturday, 21 December. The installation was accomplished by Jonathan with the assistance of our parishioners John Blackman, Danny and Daniel Crooks, Peter Herbert, Sasha Rourk, Jonathan's wife Christina and friend Jason.

The Icons of St Tikhon of Alaska and our beloved Patron and Protector St John of San Francisco arrived on 23 December and were installed on 24 December 2002. The Lampadas (hanging oil lamps) arrived in time for the Feast of Epiphany on 6 January 2003. St Raphael of Brooklyn (First Orthodox Bishop to be Consecrated in North America) arrived on 7 February 2003, and was installed on 8 February 2003.

Check back for additions to this page. In the days and weeks ahead we will install new Royal Gates and the connecting arch with Cross to complete this spiritually uplifting project.
