CAIRNCASTLE CHIEFS
Game Report

The Cairncastle Chiefs, Mary, Sarah, Joanne, Hugh, Simon and Francis, after their initial outing last year, were determined to do better this year – and so it proved.

The Chiefs fought all the way, matched against the ‘Ballygally Beach Bums’, the ‘Factory All Stars’, the ‘Antiville Indians’, the ‘Port Pirates’, the ‘Council Misfits’ and the ‘Fireballs’ and were victorious.

The games were tough, especially the penguin walk, but fun was had overall and even a little inventiveness with the balls on the ‘Big Bounce’ contributed to a win.  Bizarre tactics in the slippery tunnel with the sausage kept within the rules and helped the points tally.  The ‘Castle Ramparts’ proved more difficult and the first soaking of the evening for Francis and Hugh before attempting the ‘Giant Mangle’, skittle, suds and all.
The skilfully played joker doubled the winning game points to 80 and this contributed to an overall game score of 260, beaten only by the Carnlough Contenders with 285.

The eliminator against the Carnlough Contenders proved to be their piece de resistance, although a well-fought game had the teams neck and neck, even on the soapy slide, until the final ‘Big Bounce’, this time without the balls, when the Cairncastle Chiefs just edged home with their skittle before the Carnlough Contenders could get their team together on the ground.

The Chiefs were mindful of their other team member, David, who could not play due to family illness and their Team Manager, Alan, who crossed over and played for the Carnlough Contenders.  They have already forgiven him his disloyalty.

Cairncastle Community are raising money for the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and donations can be left with any Committee member or at the Meeting House.
