As in the past PTO will be sponsoring it's annual Field Day for the children. We need volunteers to help with the games and fun. Please consider coming to help and have fun with your children at the same time. Field Day will be Tuesday June 3,2003. Additional information will be sent home prior to Feild Day. Physical Education (Mr.Keith)- This will be an exciting month in Physical Education. Kindergarten and first grade will be woking on throwing and tossing skills, along with some parachute activities on their las day of class. Second and Third grade will finish up their Rock Climbing experience and then move on to a fitness unit to finish up the year. Fourth and Fifth grade will be completing fitness testing for their physicle "do your best" test. The students took this test in October and will now try to beat their own scores to see if they improved. The sixth and seventh graders will be involved in an Ultimate Frisbee unit, while the eight graders will finish up their year doing a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Parents, please keep in mind that there is a possibilty of class being held outside, so it might be a good idea for the students to bring sweats for their physical education day. Computer (Mr. Keith)- Our computer program continues to provide the students with all the skills necessary for out technolgy filled word. Our Kindergarten and First and Second graders continue to work on skill programs that not only help thier computer skills, but also intergrate concepts that are being taught in the classroom. Third and Fourth graders have been working onclassroom electronice mail. This has given them the chance to send mail to others in their ownclassroom without the worry and fear of outside Internet interference. A Special Visit- On May 6th, 2003, We had some very special visitors. Father Murray, a former student of St. Mary, cam e to visit on his 40th anniversary in the priesthood. He brought a host of other teachers and visitors from St. Brendans. Belown is a letter written by one of the visitors. She wished to remain anonymous. Dear Mrs. Bouman: Thank you for the warm hospitality and opprtunity to enjoy your school, faculty, and students, today. It was the highlight of our day for me and all with whom I talked. Your students demonstrated such poise, knowledge, joy, and pride as they talked of the school program, sang, or played music for us. They have exposure, and opprtunity to become immersed in many things along with studies. I wish St. Brendon's could emulate you! |
