The St.Myers Racing Team made a decision to skip the Gas City I-69 Speedway open practice and head for Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, Indiana. But Mother Nature ruled the day shortly after the team unloaded the 4S.
Rain showers came as the track was preparing for hot laps. The Twin Cities track crew did all they could to get the track back in racing condition. Getting the hot laps in for the Modifieds and Sprint cars, the officials made the decision to cancel hot laps for the street stocks and mini stocks, and move straight to heat race action trying to get the show in.
Lining up 3rd in the 1st heat race, Doug held his own, with a tight racecar. A mid race caution saw the early leader #11 Herbert pull off the track with mechanical trouble and Doug took over second place. And that is where Doug finished behind Lee Hobbs in the 0 car.
The second heat was won by the 77 of Joey Kramer followed by the 17 of Alan Manger.
On the second lap of heat three, Mother Nature made her second appearance with a downpour that cancelled the rest of the evenings events.
The St.Myers Racing Team will be in action for the season opener at Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana on Friday night April 20th. Doug will be making his first start in defense of his repeat track championship at Gas City. Tentative plans are for a return trip to Twin Cities on April 21st. Come on out to the track and cheer on the St.Myers Racing Team and the very fast 4S Modified!
