Saturday, the team headed from Farmer City to the season opener at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, Indiana. The weather was warm and the facility was very nice. The team got the car ready and started the first heat race from the fourth position. Being a little off in the chassis, Doug again did a good job coming home fourth.
With a pit area full of Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks the team had plenty of time to make changes to the car. Throwing everything at it but the kitchen sink, Doug lined up tenth for the feature. The race ran at a very fast pace as the three leaders ran off and hid while fourth through eighth packed together and waged a war for those spots. Doug battled the # 90 (driver unknown) for many laps finally passing him for the seventh position a few laps before the checkered.
All in all, the 4S St. Myers Racing Team had a good opening weekend. Coming up, the team plans to head to Lima, Ohio to compete at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday April 13th. Check back for more updates soon!
