Modified racing at Gas City I-69 Speedway today. Thirty-two cars were on hand for four heat races. Elvin Herschberger took heat one. Heat two by Gas City sprint car regular Scott Orr. The heat three winner was Dan Hamstra. The 4S started outside front row of heat four with the 25 of Bub Patrick on the pole. On the green the two raced side by side for the first three laps with Doug finally pulling away from Patrick by three car lengths to take the win. One sixteen car B-main was ran to set the field for the feature. JR Ruefer took the win in the 152 car followed by the 12 of Gary Shaffer.
The inversion cube roll was a four, which put the 4S on the pole for the feature. This was the last of the good luck for the team. Doug brought the field to the green flag and as the 4S went into turn one, Herschberger hit Doug. The contact caused Doug to slow and go through the infield to return to the track. Doug came out in mid pack and things got worse from there. The 4S got around again in turn four resulting in a yellow that sent Doug to the tail on lap 3. On the restart, Doug started the 4S heading back up through the field. Darrell Prine spun in turn three in front of a pack of cars resulting in Doug making contact with another car putting the 4S out for the rest of the race with a bent front end. Doug was credited with 17th position.
