Rain in the area sent the St.Myers Racing Team on the road Friday looking for a place to race. Bloomington Speedway seemed to be the best chance, so the team headed out. Just about 25 miles from Indy, Bloomington cancelled for the night. A decision was made to make the long trip to Farmer City, Illinois.
The track was not quite what we expected as a Tuesday night race at Farmer City sealed the track and made it very dry and slick. Two heats of Modifieds were run with Doug lining up 5th in heat one. The car was a little off (one tenth) and no forward progress was made. The 45 of Todd Kirkland won the heat followed by the 3L of Jeff Leka. Heat two was won by the 20c of Al Crawley. The 72 of Brian Lynn won the dash.
A bunch of changes were made to the car and the feature line up saw Leka and Crawley on the front row. Doug lined up 13th and at the green started to the front. Moving up to the 7th position by the 11th lap caution. The 4S stayed right with the pack on the restart, but as slick as the track was passing was not an option. Leka crossed the line first followed by Crawley, Lynn, Kirkland, and the 21 of Kyle Logue. It was a learning experience for the team and a lot of notes were taken for the dry slick conditions. A totally different track from what the team saw April 6th.
