Biker Mice in Love--rrrrow!

You wouldn't expect romance to be a very prominent part of a series like "Biker Mice." It's primarily action-adventure, features three male main characters, and is obviously geared toward a young male audience. Ergo, mushy stuff got pushed under the rug because it might have turned off the key demographic ("Eww, cooties!"). But it was there, amidst the squealing tires, heavy metal, lasers, falling buildings, and megalomaniac plots to conquer the world. In fact, the love between the characters has proved possibly the most popular and enduring facet of the entire series. Dip into the FanFics at bikermice.com sometime, for example, and you'll find that most are romantic in nature.
So, with that in mind, we examine the love lives of our heroes and the other members of the cast. Sometimes, they're played for laughs; sometimes, they're deadly serious; sometimes, they're a mixture of both. They remain, however, an integral and intriguing element of the series. Quotes are taken from the essays themselves.

Just Friends?
Vinnie and Charley

"Of all the relationships in Biker Mice from Mars, perhaps none has captured the imagination of the fans more than the one between white-furred wild mouse Vinnie VanWham and sharp-witted human mechanic Charley Davidson. It's no wonder...It dips, twists, and turns, starting as an antagonistic friendship and stumbling towards romance, leaving the fans wondering--what comes next?"

Duty Calls:
Throttle and Carbine

"Being as far apart as they are sucks, and their personal differences aren't any help, but it's their devotion to their tasks that will be the end of them as a couple...It seems unlikely that they will ever find satisfaction with each other so long as their consciences nag them about work left yet undone, no matter how strongly they feel about one another."

The Love Triangle:
Vinnie, Harley, and Stoker

"It seems that [Vinnie] only acts on his romantic urgings when the chance for a deeper relationship is jeopardized. That's what happened with his first love, in which the girl's ambiguous feelings, the serious presence of another, more aggressive suitor, and Vinnie's own feelings of inadequacy (yeah, I said "Vinnie's feelings of inadequacy"...) kept the two of them apart for perhaps years until the two of them shared their first kiss on the battlefield...His hesitation in that case gave him and his new girlfriend just a few short minutes together before she was spirited away, never to be seen again. Ladies and gentlemen, start your hankies!"

Miscellaneous Hearts Aflame:
