Mike Stoker, the man who drives and operates Engine 51 each week on Emergency! is not an actor--but a real firefighter! The only member of the cast who is actually a fireman. Mike is assigned to Los Angeles County's Station 65 in Malibu. On the show, as you know, he uses his real name.Mike was born in San Francisco on June 25 1941. His full name is Charles Michael Stoker but everyone calls him Mike. Mike's father was a policeman in Los Angeles before going into buisness for himself, and Mike's one brother Pat, is a fireman too. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State in L.A. but his first ambition was and his current min interest is fire fighting! He hopes to be a chief someday, and claims he would never even consider giving up fire fighting to be a full-time actor.
The Beatles are Mike's favourite group and Elvis Presley and Carole King are the individual singers he likes the best. Then it comes to watching TV, Adam-12 and Hawaii 5-0 are the shows Mike prefers. This fireman's favorite color is burnt orange! --and his favourite food is beef stroganoff. Mike cooks much of his own food at the firehouse, and welcomes a chance to go out in a good restaurant.
A bachelor, Mike is kind of waiting for the right girl to come along. He likes girls who are casual but neat, intelligent and who have a good sense of humour. "But they don't have to be Joan Rivers." he said. Mike loves movies and if you dated him he would probably take you to the flicks, a late dinner and a romantic walk along the beach at the end of a perfect evening.
Mike is very excited about the mail he's been getting and says he reads every but of it-- hectic life prevents him from answering all his letters personally.
