Welcome to the Manga Guide Section of Dragonball Z
The VIZ Manga Series The VIZ Manga collection are currently re-producing the original Japanese Manga into it's the US Manga (or comics, which ever you prefer to refer them as) and they are up to the Frieza Saga at the moment. Shonen Jump (VIZ's version of the popular comic from Japan) is now continuing the translation of these mangas, but in a similar format. The Manga come in collections, known as PARTS. VIZ have split the Manga into 5 parts so far. Here is what each part contains: Part 1 :: Volumes 1 > 9 : Saiyan Saga Part 2 :: Volumes 10 > 24 : Saiyan Saga Part 3 :: Volumes 25 > 35 : Namek Saga Part 4 :: Volumes 36 > 49 : Frieza Saga Part 5 :: Volumes 50 > 60 : Frieza Saga (most are unreleased though) As you can see the VIZ Manga series is not finished yet, because it is still being translated. Of course, if you're Japanese (or can read Japanese) you can try and find the original Japanese Manga series. As soon as they bring out more, I'll notify it here! The Graphic novels are simply "bulks" of the small Mangas stashed together in one book. Each graphic novel is in black and white, and includes around 10 of the Mangas. They are cheaper than buying the complete single Manga collection, but are not considered as "real" Mangas. When VIZ bought the rights to reproduce the original Japanese "Shonen Jump" magazine, they decided to use the Shonen Jump brand name to re-release the graphic novels. There is no difference between the older VIZ versions (which are still lingering around) and the newer Shonen Jump versions. However, Shonen Jump have now extended the original collection and has currently 12 volumes available for purchase. Check out the Manga Scans section to see the front covers of the Manga series. *In case you didn't know, Manga is the Japanese equivalent of comic books. |
