Welcome to the Japanese Names Section of Dragonball Z
In total there are 13
DBZ movies. Not all have been released on VHS or DVD by FUNimation,
and some probably won't ever be. We'll just have to wait and see. No movies have currently been released in the UK. If you have purchased any of the movies, you would have got them from the US (if you live in the UK, they would have been imported from the US). In Japan all 13 movies have been released - the main reason why we are waiting for the movies is FUNi's dubbing and translating processes of the movies. And of course some dumb marketing plan to keep you waiting till the next one is released. Here is a list of all 13 movies :
Now then, here's a list of the 7 movies which you can buy :
So, where do these 7 movies fit in with the actual DBZ storyline? Here's a quick guide to show you where they fit in : Dead Zone
: In-between the end of series Dragonball and beginning of Dragonball Z. Another question : why do the names of movies 8-13 look too long. There's a simple answer to this, as these movies haven't been released in the USA or UK, all the names of movies 8-13 are direct translations of the names of the Japanese movies. Every time that FUNi has released a movie in the US, they have given it a more suitable name. This is because, as you can guess, a movie called 'Burnout!! Fierce Fight, Violent Fight, Super-Exciting Fight ' doesn't really make much sense. Why has the Japanese Called the movies these wired names well they haven't because the titles have been translated the actual titles of the movies in Japanese would not mean Burnout!! Fierce Fight, Violent Fight, Super-Exciting Fight it would be something more like A fierce, violent, super exciting fight. The 'Lost' Movie I'm sure if you've scanned the web of its many DBZ sites, you would have heard of the 'lost' movie. Well, yes this is in fact true. The film is called 'Plan to Eliminate the Saiyans.' The idea for the movie was actually developed for the Story part of a game (with the same name) made for the console called the Playdia. I be you've probably never heard of that one before - hence the reason why the film developed for the game was never released - it simply wasn't popular enough. To find out about the Lost Movie's storyline and its review, head to the reviews section of the Movie Guide. |
