Stoneage Jewelry
by James Haas
The first and most crucial step in the creation of Stoneage Jewelry is the selection of stones.  Jim Haas sorts through tons of rough gemstones to select only the highest quality and most beautiful stones.  From there, Jim cuts the rough chunks of stones into slices or slabs.  Jim carefully studies each unique slab and cuts it into smaller pieces which will best showcase the distinctive beauty of each stone.  Each piece is then hand shaped by coarse grinding on a flat lap machine.  Through a process of successively finer grinds, Jim polishes each stone to perfection.
Jim then handcrafts sterling silver settings for each stone.  Since each stone is individually hand cut and polished, no two are the same.  Therefore each stone requires a custom made setting.  These are then made into pendants, earring, bracelets and rings.  Jim Haas produces a line of jewelry where his classic, sophisticated styles showcase the natural beauty of the stones.
The Art of Stoneage Jewelry
About Jim Haas
After years as a logger in the mountains of Colorado, in 1989 Jim Haas moved to Los Angeles to attend the prestigious Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where he graduated at the top of his class.  As a certified gemologist appraising fine jewelry, Jim began making jewelry for friends and family in his spare time.  So many people were interested in his work, that in 1991 he gave up the suit and tie and began travelling to art shows with his "Stoneage Jewelry".  At an art show in 1996, Jim met his soulmate, clothing designer Cathya Savage.  In 1998 they opened a gift shop in Moab, Utah.  Over the years, Jim developed an international clientele that love the clean, classic lines and impeccable workmanship of his Stoneage Jewelry.  Missing the excitement of art shows and travelling, in 2005 Jim and Cathya returned to the art show circuit

Thank you for your interests in our art.  We only sell at shows, since due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our work, it is time and cost prohibitive to try and sell via inernet, phone or catalog.  Please check back - we will do our best to keep the site up to date - or email us to be put on our email list.  Once a month we send emails about our upcoming shows.  Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
