TOP 10 ALL-TIME GREATEST PERFORMANCES
10.)
Barry Bialik – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl VII
With
the help of one of the greatest team defensive displays in Mud Bowl history,
152 yards and 2 touchdowns were enough to name Barry the games MVP as the
Raiders shut out the Rhinos 26-0 in Mud Bowl VII.
9.)
Jim Richardson – Rhinos – Mud Bowl VI
Jim
lead all players defensively in Mud Bowl VI by recording 14 solo tackles (still
a record) and 2 forced fumbles (tie for record.) Richardson was also credited with 5 tackle-for-losses against
hall of fame running back Scott Lenz.
8.)
Paul Woroniak – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl XII
After
several games of being under appreciated, “Shotgun” received his due respect
when he was finally named Mud Bowl MVP.
During the game, Woroniak carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards and
scored 3 rushing TDs.
7.)
Ryan Argue – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl XI
Argue
recorded his second MVP award in Mud Bowl XI by recording 8 solo tackles and 2
interceptions. Mid-way through the
first quarter, Ryan picked off a pass from Gorillas’ QB Paul Osborne and
returned it for a record 75 yard TD run.
6.)
Alvin Rischel – Brethren White – Mud Bowl II
With
perhaps one of the greatest performances by a quarterback in Mud Bowl history,
Rischel lead his team to a lopsided 56-12 victory over the Brethren Blue
team. Rischel completed 16 out of 26
passes for 193 yards while throwing four TD passes to 3 different
receivers. He also compiled over 30
yards rushing and 1 rushing TD.
5.)
Andrew Cochran – Marilla Gorillas – Mud Bowl X
Andrew’s
breakaway speed was simply too much for the Outlaws to handle in Mud Bowl
X. His first carry from scrimmage went
33 yards for a touchdown. Only seven
carries later he had compiled 128 yards and 3 touchdowns, naming him the games
MVP.
4.)
Alvin Rischel & J.R. Nelson – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl XVI
While Rischel completed only 10 passes in Mud Bowl XVI, a record six of them connected for touchdowns. Nelson, who filled in for Raiders’ TE Mark Sexton, caught three of those touchdown passes and set a new Mud Bowl record.
3.)
Scott Lenz – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl V
Scott’s
performance in Mud Bowl V helped pave the way for his induction into the Hall
of Fame. Lenz gained a then record 219
total yards from scrimmage, scoring 3 touchdowns and became the only player in
Mud Bowl history to record a 100/100 game (119 yds rushing, 100 yds receiving.)
2.)
Joel Hein – Rishel’s Raiders – Mud Bowl XIII
It
was hard not to make Joel’s performance in Mud Bowl XIII the #1 over-all. After all, he was responsible for
three-quarters of the Raiders’ offense as he destroyed the record for most
rushing yards by gaining 264 on the ground and scoring 2 touchdowns. In addition he intercepted a pass from Outlaws’
QB Chris Kempf in the closing seconds of the game. Joel was the unanimous selection for the game’s MVP award.
1.)
Jim Mlejnek – Brethren Blue – Mud Bowl I
To this day, we still have no idea exactly how many yards Jim rushed for in Mud Bowl I, (possibly 300+) but his record 7 touchdowns, (6 rushing, 1 passing) were simply enough to make his performance the greatest ever in Mud Bowl history!
