Nelson's
debut in Mud Bowl 5 immediately set the tone for this hall of famer. In a 48-20 loss to |
|
the
Raiders, Nelson lead his team in rushing yards and threw another touhdown
late in the game. |
|
In
the Spring of 1999, He founded his own team (the Outlaws) and upset the
league by defeating |
|
the
Raiders in Mud Bowl 8 with a score of 13-6.
With his team's first championship, Nelson lead all |
players
with 9 tackles, and caught 2 passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns; naming
him the |
|
games
most valuable player. An injury to
his shoulder one year later threatened to end his career. |
|
However,
his return to the game in Mud Bowl XII only symbolized the gritty
determination of this |
|
hall
of famer. Nelson leads all Mud Bowl
players with 41 tackles in 7 games. (tackles were not |
|
recorded
until Mud Bowl 6) |
