I have a trail course set up in my arena as well, and I work all of my riding horses through it. The horses can all: walk on a blue tarp, pull a bag with cans in it (or haul a log), stand near a mailbox while I pull papers out of it, back through an "L", step over & sidepass over logs, sidepass over a barrel, walk over a wooden bridge, and stand still while I put on a coat (or slicker) when I'm mounted). We currently have land we can ride on that has a creek crossing--it varies between ankle & knee depth, and the horses are comfortable going through it (even though it's quite a rocky crossing).
