Stonor CC hosted
Hambleden CC on a sunny Saturday last weekend. Stonor won the toss
and chose to field first. The home side's young paceman Stuey Slade struck
first, taking
the wicket of Hambleden opener J. Wright. Stonor managed to keep a cap on
the runs
despite some average fielding from the home side until the Hambleden
batsmen decided
to increase the tempo. Hambleden finished their innings on 183 runs for the
loss of
6 wickets. Useful contributions were made with the bat from S. Bradford
(41), P. Rosier
(40) and S. Mattingley (41).
In reply the Stonor innings started confidently despite losing two early
wickets.
M. Fennell played a tidy innings to score 32 before becoming the first of Evans
two
wickets. O. Nicholson came in and scored a brisk 36, but the star of the
innings
was J. Mayo scoring a well paced 88. In the end Stonor reached the required
total
comfortably with 6 wickets in hand.
