She's Still My Mama
Written by Marci Hanshue

Verse 1   If there's anyone I wanted to be, when I grew up
That'd be my mama, both hands down, & that's for sure
Mama didn't have much at all, when she was young
And she worked real hard, for everything, she called hers
There's stories told by folks, who were there when I was born
I was the product, of a love, that up and left her so forlorn

Chorus   But she never gave up, in fact she overcame
She never gave in, no, she didn't bear any shame
She never quit, she was forced to in the end
But she's still my mama, and I am still her kid

Verse 2
Did she ever dream of what I'd be like, when I was grown?
Guess some questions that I ask, seems I'll never know
I was born with perseverance, I can feel it in my bones
It's a gift I guard, with my heart, and I never feel alone
This burning desire, that I have to make my mark
Must have come from her, must have been lit up by her spark

Chorus   Cause she never gave up, in fact she overcame
She never gave in, no, she didn't bear any shame
She never quit, she was forced to in the end
But she's still my mama, and I am still her kid

Verse 3   I never met that woman, but she must've been somethin' else
I never met a person, who had a bad word for her in their mouth
The tales that have been spun, have made a myth out of my mother
But her memory is fonder, in my mind than any other
There's stories told by folks, who were there when I was born
I was the product, of a love, that up and left her so forlorn

Bridge Bein' raised up by a town, has never been quite the same
As bein' loved by a woman, with whom I share my  name

Chorus   But I won't give up, in fact I'll overcome
I won't give in , that's the power of my love
I won't ever quit, on that you can depend
Cause she's still my mama, and I am still her kid

Long, Cold Winter
Written by Marci Hanshue

Verse 1   The drifts are getting higher,
Sometimes the wind will whistle through
But time stands still and I can see him, I can see my little boy
If I try real hard, as I look out the window,
            Onto snow covered toys

Verse 2   I have to get warm, I have to close my eyes
Cause I can't bring myself to take them, all the way inside
Everthing's just as it was... beautifully frozen art
Tryin' to give me a chance, but I won't take-- the head start
Chorus   When the sun shone down, upone his face--I saw heaven
When he looked at me, with those eyes--I saw perfection
Little did I know, watchin' him grow, his soul
           His soul was my protection
His soul, his soul was my protection

Verse 3   I'm waitin' for the spring, I'm waitin' for the thaw
Wanna see the flowers bloom, like pictures he would draw
I have to start again, but now is not the time
Bright colors dot the frost, as his memory fills my mind

Chorus   When the sun shone down,  upon his face--I saw heaven
When he looked at me, with those eyes--I saw perfection
Little did I know, watchin'  him grow, his soul
           His soul was my protection
His soul, his soul was my protection

Tag        The drifts are getting higher, almost makes me shiver
Time stands still, it's gonna be...a long, cold winter
