The Visit

Verse 1
I wonder if I pour her a drink
If she'll notice that I've drank three
Oh how I love the days she takes the time
                To visit me...
I've found a taste, for the clear stuff
It's a change from the Chianti
After a second I can open up
Be what a friend should be

Verse 2
I feel euphoria creeping up,
I feel my tongue begin to loosin' up
I can't believe I just said that
But I half don't care what she thinks
Get up to drop three cubes into place
Float my glass up on the counter
Over pour...I can't even taste
A strategic splash of tonic water
Chorus   There was a time when these visits were more light-hearted
There was a time when we woke up early to get started
It would be an all-day thing, it would be a bonding thing
Now I get to squirm as she watches... From her holier-than-thou seat...
Tag    I wonder if I pour her another... Will she forgive me... for being weak...

Verse 1   I will never forget, Rev's revival tent
He parked next to my van down by the water
It used to be, just me alone
'Til I blinked & saw his only daughter

Chorus   He called her...Meggy Cheyenne
You know you're all  I have
Lend me your voice and your mother's sweet soft hands
Meggy Cheyenne, oh my Meggy Cheyenne
Let us give praise & help me save...
               Every soul we can

Verse 2   I remember wanting, to waste all my good time
Tryin' to sway her forever to be mine
I'd say, Let's take a walk back into them there trees
Her eyes would say yes, she'd hear his voice
                And  then she'd leave

Chorus   He called her...Meggy Cheyenne
You know you're all I have
Lend me your voice and your mother's sweet soft hands
Meggy Cheyenne, oh my Meggy Cheyenne
Let us give praise & help me save...
                Every soul  we can
Bridge   Every mornin' Rev would come and shake my beads
Make me get up & go give thanks down by the water
So intent on savin' me, he didn't understand
I'd trade my soul for his only daughter
Chorus   He called her...Meggy Cheyenne
You know you're all I have
Lend me your voice and your mother's sweet soft hands
Meggy Cheyenne, oh my Meggy Cheyenne
Let us give praise & help me save...
               Every soul we can..

This is nice , I've said too much, wonder could she hear me if I screamed?
                                        She doesn't judge, just gives me a hug--man, I wish she'd leave
