Our visit to Leavenworth, Washington

February 15, 1998

This was our first WorldMark visit, and was part of the Discovery Program we purchased following our sales presentation in the summer of 1997. The fact that we immediately purchsed our WorldMark membership after this trip, before completing our Discovery Program, speaks highly of the Park Village at Leavenworth resort.

The town of Leavenworth is a very popular getaway for all kinds of year-round activities. It is only about a 2 to 2-1/2 hour drive from downtown Seattle (depending on how many stops you make for photos, souvenirs, and so on along the way. Here's a map from Seattle to Leavenworth.

A nice day trip is a visit to Lake Chelan. Here is a map. While there, you can stop by and see the WorldMark resort at Lake Chelan Shores. If you're looking for fine wines, you can always stop at a number of Seattle area wineries on your way to Leavenworth, or take a trip over to the North Columbia Valley wineries. For more information on Washington Wines, visit wawine.

Leavenworth is beautiful year round, but is especially beautiful in the spring when all of the flowers are in bloom and the fall when all of the leaves are turning colors. Likewise, it is a very popular destination during the summer for hikers, mountain bikers, climbers, kayakers, rafters and anyone who enjoys breathtaking scenery in the great outdoors.

Of course, for winter sports, it's a great place to stay if you want to get an early start at either Stevens Pass or Mission Ridge ski areas. Or if you're a cross-country skier, you can take off from the back porch of your WorldMark unit and head off into the wilderness. No matter what your activity, when you come home to your WorldMark unit, the jacuzzi hot tub is always a welcome respite for tired and aching muscles.

There is no shortage of great food in Leavenworth, either. We had a fabulous dinner at Katzenjammer's, delicious sandwiches and 'White Chili' at the Soup Cellar, and a real gut-buster breakfast at Sandy's Waffle & Dinner Haus.
