Story Making Mother

MY CHILDHOOD

When I was born, my mom could not walk. She rolled around in a wheelchair. She still does. She is a pretty special lady, and I love her, but she could not raise me. So, I became my grandmother’s and my grandfather’s little girl. They already had a dog with my name, and well...they did not want to confuse the dog. So...they changed MY name! (Tell me, is that fair?) ~smile~

One day, I got the chance to leave the city. I did not like my neighborhood because it was dirty and dangerous. When my aunt let me move with her to a place that was beautiful and had lots of grass and trees, I was happy. Here, the sun shines almost all the time. It’s a happy place to live and I love it so much that people think I’m silly.

MY FAMILY

I married a wonderful man 16 years ago, and together, we have three great kids. My daughter looks just like me, except that she’s way better looking. My two boys like to play basketball and enjoy good stories--and yes, they are cute, too. We all love watching superhero movies.

My husband’s mom is my best friend. My niece lives with her and she is one of our favorite people, too. We all go to church together, eat at restaurants together, and pretty much live like one family in two houses. We are Hispanic (that means we speak Spanish), and being a close family like this is a special part of our culture.

FRIENDS

I have a great family (REALLY great) and they are all special to me--they are my best friends. Now, my other best friend (outside of my family) has known me for a long time, and she is very special to me, too. We are freakishly alike, yet also different--I love her a lot. A few other awesome people make me smile a lot—some of them sometimes cook for me! (grin) See? I told you they make me smile.  I hope they know how much I love them.

WORK LIFE

My church is Spanish, and we all work very hard to help people learn to love God. I am the secretary and a teacher. Also, because we all work at the church, my family is almost always there when the doors are open. I love everything about my church, my family, and even my job. I answer phones at a farm (plus I do a lot of other things there) and I think it's a lot of fun!

WHAT I LOVE THE MOST

I love Jesus so much. I need him every day, and he makes me feel special. He is a good Lord and I know that I can trust him. Other things I love include writing and spending time with kids. I also like to read the Bible and stories about other people who love God. Another favorite of mine is my online work--my websites and blogs. We are homeschoolers, too, and that is so much fun for us, as well.

THINGS I WANT TO DO

In the future, I want to be a teacher at a school. I think it would be fun to work at a private school, or even to one day be the principal. I also want to be part of making reading fun for children, with stories that make them feel special. I hope that I can eventually make my writing into real books that people will like. I also want to stop being scared when I stand up in front of groups of people to talk.

MY STORIES

I got started making up stories at age 12 because my cousin was bratty. The way I kept him calm was by pretending to be somebody different. I acted like the Story Making Mother, and I entertained him with tales that I made up. Most of the stories had him as the star. He loved it. (Hey, if you want to be the star of a story, just let me know.)

Later, when I had kids, I found out that instead of yelling at them when they did something bad, I could tell stories that made them want to be good. They loved the Pumpkin Story and decided not to let mean kids keep them from doing what is right. They listened to the Gumball Story and decided not to complain. The Lamp helped them to see that the reward for their obedience would be wonderful. Each story I told helped them to work harder to have clean hearts.

Now, my stories continue to help kids. I hope they will bless you, too! I love you guys. Keep praying and keep reading the Bible and great stories like these!

WHO IS GOD?

I believe that Jesus Christ was hurt and then died. I know that his blood was spilled for me. I also know that he would have done it for you, too, even if you had been the only person on earth. I believe we have all sinned (that means do bad things) and need his gift of forgiveness. If you don’t think so, ask yourself if you ever made someone cry. When I read the Bible, I see that none of us can be good enough to go to Heaven. He wants to give us Heaven as a gift, and if we try to pay him for it by being good, it’s rude. We should still be good, though, because we show him we love him, by being as good as we can. If we have trouble being good, Jesus tells us we can live well because we have help--the Holy Spirit.

This sounds hard, but it starts out easily. Tell Jesus you want to believe him, that you will serve him all your life. Tell him you want give him all of you and that you want his Spirit to help you do good things. Then, ask him to help you to know what you should do. That’s it!

At least for now…the next step is to read the Bible, which you can find online at  www.biblegateway.com I like to read the New King James Version.

(This is my favorite online Bible site.) Then, keep talking to God at least a couple of times a day. Finally, go to church. (Yeah, you knew I would say that--smile!) Make sure your church believes Jesus is God’s son, in the Trinity, and that the Bible is the complete written word of God.
