Beau is a bartender in Hollywood, working in the heart of it all. On the Sunset Strip. Next door to The Body Shop, and only a couple of blocks away from The Roxy. Beau is the lead singer and front man for his ambitious five-man rock ensemble named "The Mutes," an underground type band with a small but steady fanbase.

Although Beau is hopeful for a future in the music industry, he has achieved no true success with his band and often finds himself hopeless and alone. He substitutes affection and sociability for a good substance high. Usually cocaine. However, as his problem escalates out of control, he seeks help, but estranged and isolated from his family, and certainly down and out, he has nowhere to turn.
