POETRY FOR MIA
CAT HEAVEN
where crickets and butterflies play
A cat may be late getting to Heaven...
there is so much fun on the way!
But an angel will wait at the yellow front door
wait till a kitty comes home
And when she arrives, he'll give her a kiss
and some milk in a bowl of her own
There are trees in Cat Heaven, trees made just for cats
trees growing so green and so high
But, no one gets stuck in a tree anymore--
if a cat wants down she will fly!
And, oh all the toys, kitty toys everywhere
thousands and thousands go by
There are buttons and baubles and small catnip mousies
all afloat in the sky
There are angels, of course, with soft angel laps
where kitties can purr loud and strong
The angels will rub kitties noses and ears
and sing them a Cat Heaven song
And when cats are hungry, there is God's kitchen counter
all covered with white kitty dishes
full of tuna and salmon and mounds of sardines
and wonderful little pink fishes
The cats in Cat Heaven are so loved and spoiled
God lets them all lie on his bed...
He walks in his garden with a good black book
and a kitty asleep on his head
Then when a cat needs to, she may simply ponder
and watch the blue world deep and wide....
she will watch the old house where she once lived and wandered
and the people who loved her inside
All cats love Heaven, they know the way there
they know where the angel cats fly
They will turn past the stars and the moon and the sun
to curl up with God in the sky.

Memories
well maybe that is true
I never wanted memories
I only wanted you
A million times I needed you
a million times I cried
if love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
in death I love you still
in my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.

No softly padded paws to run
Ecstatically to meet me
No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
Will say it's time for feeding
I've put away your bowl
And all the things you won't be needing
But I will miss you little friend
For I could never measure
The happiness you brought to me
The comfort and the pleasure
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow
I'm sure there will be a place for you

Native American Prayer
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful-lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you,to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful-then a bright Glow pierced the night
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

Warm light coming from far below
Twinkling, sparkling is the candle's glow
All is well up on the ridge
The place we know as Rainbow Bridge
Furbabies sleeping in heaven's light
Tended by candles in the night
Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep
As they slumber in this night so deep
Hearts on earth that miss them so
Take comfort in the candle's glow
Watching for them in skies above
Bound eternally by a cord of love.

Since you've been gone
It's been two years
It feels so long
Every night you slept on my pillow
Your little paw touching my hair
I find it so hard to sleep
Now that you're no longer there
You were with me when I was sad
You were always so loving and good
It didn't matter what I did
I knew you understood
Your little voice no longer greets me
The silence is so loud
Never will I stop looking for you
Though I know you can't be found
You're running in a soft green field
With butterfly kisses and flowers
The rainbow stretches across the sky
And the sun shines on you always
Though I miss you more than words can say
I had to let you go
Until the day I hold you again
My heart will feel this cold
Wait for me, my little love
Play with friends, Eddie,Merle and Bo
But never forget my sweetie girl
Your Mommy loves you so
don't think of her as gone away
her journey's just begun.
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one
just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years
think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away
and think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much...
Together Forever

This side of heaven there is a very special place
A sanctuary for pets who’ve run their last race
They go here to await their master’s call
To be reunited with them in our Master’s hall
For when you go to heaven there you will find
Waiting for you the pet who left you behind
There they all are eager to hear your voice again
As soon as you see them its goodbye to all pain
It seems to have been a lifetime since you’ve parted
A very long wait while you were there broken hearted
But time for them has ceased to be it just stood still
It seems to be moments since they felt your thrill
They are all healthy and happy playing in the sun
For them in this haven the fun has just begun
All the hurts and the illnesses have faded far away
Their lives are filled with comfort, warmth and play
But when you appear they leave their new friends
So glad and so happy that their wait is at an end
They saw you coming to take them home finally
Never to be parted throughout all times eternity
And together you will walk though heavens door
You both will be there at soul’s ease for evermore
Peace will fill your soul and love will fill your eyes
And together you’ll be forever under heavens’ skies
