St. Paul's Lutheran church is a member congregation of the Lutheran-Church Missouri-Synod (LCMS).

We at St. Paul's are gathered by God the Father around His holy Word and Sacraments to receive His gifts through His Son and in the Holy Spirit.  During the Divine Service we join together with angels and archangels and with all the saints in heaven to laud and magnify the glorious Name of the Holy Trinity.  In read, sung, chanted, and preached Word, Jesus Christ beckons His Bride, the Church, to hearken to His voice and to believe His saving Gospel.  In Baptism, the Sacrament of the Altar, and in the Holy Absolution, the Son of God sustains and strengthens His saints.

Guests are certainly welcome to the Divine Service (see "Reception of the Sacrament of the Altar" below).

The Divine Service at St. Paul's may be described as "traditional Lutheran," because we maintain many of the Worship practices of the universal Church through the centuries.  The Minister wears robes and a crucifix.  There is also a crucifix on the Altar.  Candles are used.  Contemporary "praise songs" will not be heard at St. Paul's.  Kneeling, bowing, and making the sign of the cross are done by some members of the congregation, although no one is forced to do these things.  The Pastor chants some parts of the Divine Service.  Preaching follows the Lutheran distinction of Law and Gospel.  In Holy Communion, the Common Cup is offered, although individual cups are available.  Only wine is offered - no grape juice, following Christ's Institution.  The Body and Blood are elevated during the Institution, following Dr. Luther's instruction, to show reverence for the Real Presence of Christ in the Sacrament.

RECEPTION OF THE SACRAMENT OF THE ALTAR:
In the Lord's Supper we truly receive the very Body and Blood of Christ in, with, and under the bread and wine.  This is not only a gift of our Lord to His Church; it is also a sign of our mutual confession as a Church.  Therefore, only Lutherans of the Missouri Synod are invited to partake of the Sacrament.  Visiting Lutherans of the Missouri Synod are kindly asked to notify an elder before the service of their desire to receive the Sacrament of the Altar.

Before reception of the Sacrament, we require all members to undergo a period of instruction in the Doctrine of Holy Scripture.  If visitors wish to receive the Body and Blood with us, then we also require them to undergo instruction.  The Pastor is always willing to begin this instruction whenever someone has the desire to do so.
