Buses ply between BIA airport and Colombo Central Bus Terminal on a regular basis, however you have to board the buses on the road out side the airport premises. To get to Unawatuna you have to change buses in Colombo and Galle. Air-con Inter-city buses ply to Galle every 15-30 minutes and the fare is COLOMBA/GALLE Rs.175. If you board a Matara Inter-city us you can get off on the main road at Unawatuna Yaddehimulla Junction. Fare is Rs.190. You maybe charged extra for baggage on buses. Two express trains are available from Colombo Fort to Matara The Kandy-MataraTrain No.40 leaves Colombo Fort in the morning at 08.30 am and reaches Galle at 10.20 am. The next morning train, Rajarata Rajini FROM ANURADHAPURA,leaves Colombo Fort at 10.00am reaches Galle at 01.30 pm. Gallu Kumari leaves Colombo Fort at 02.00pm Ruhuna Kumari leaves at 03.35pm both trains are crowded. 3Wheeler Taxi or "Tuk-Tuks" charge Rs.200 from Galle to Unawatuna. Always hire WITH the Driver ONLY, if you have a hanger on you will be "taken for a ride". we arrange air-con mini vans for US$60 for the trip. |
