My favorite styles are the Italian Renaissance dress and the Irish dress. The italian is perfect for those who don't want boning but want to have a period style costume. It tends to be high waisted (almost babydoll style) and has a very full skirt. This style was made popular in modern times by the movie "Ever After". |

The "Irish dress" is accepted by most SCA and Renaissance type re-enactment groups, even though it isn't necessarily period. It's basically a open front bodice, lightly boned, with a skirt attached that opens in the front. I love them because they look great and are easy to take on and off. Unlike most costume of the period, you don't need help! |
