Prisoner (known overseas as Prisoner: Cell Block H, Kvinnofangelset or Women in Prison), is an Australian Drama series that ran from 1979 until 1986. The series revolved around the fictional Wentworth Detention Centre for Women, and remains one of Australia's most highly successful programs.
Such memorable characters as Bea Smith, Lizzie Birdsworth, Doreen Burns, Officer Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson,
Officer Vera 'Vinegar Tits' Bennett, Governor Erica Davidson and Judy Bryant are just a few of the plethora of interesting characters that graced the screen whilst Prisoner was viewed.
