And now, the fabled "things you probably won't find on this site unless someone gives me a good reason" (which nobody did for my site itself in the first place, I know. Shut up.) page.
Written in plain text for your enjoyment. Try not to let this site bore you to death via blandness.
Now, I don't know whether this list will make this a "better" or a "worse" page than it already is. Some might want these things on here; some might not. I'm willing to bet that it's more like "100% of people reading this don't care if this stuff is here or not." I just thought I'd say that, going with my better judgement (as if that's helped me in the past), it would probably be good for me to write this list, as well as any reasons for me not to include these things that were good enough for me. This list of grievances will surely increase as time goes on, as I become increasingly agitated about more web sites' minor annoyances..
1.) First of all, I do not plan to put up an "about me" or anything similar page. The reasons: Anyone who wants to know anything about my personal life outside of the purpose of this site can either ask me directly, has done so already, or needs psychiatric help. Also, if I were to include such things, I would just seem pathetic; it would be assuming that random unknown people would be visiting this site (which won't happen in the first place; this is just hypothetical) and I would be reaching out to them to be my friends. Putting up pictures of myself for any reason would be weird; my friends already know what I look like, and any people who weren't my friends who were to come here (again, it won't happen; I'm just speculating) would, again, be people with whom I probably wouldn't want to associate anway. Going to random sites and reading about/looking at pictures of the web author is a sign of madness. I'm certain of it. 2.) Second of all, I do not plan to put up a page specifically devoted to my musings about certain "flawed" world politics, people, ideas, beliefs, religions, and what-have-you that have nothing to do with the intended content of the site. The reasons: I have seen sites that have such things, and I haven't personally approved. These such pages seem to be created for one reason: the author wants to show everyone how intelligent he is by writing down deeply profound thoughts about things like Satan-worshipping or Communism or the Internet. If I have something to say, I'll always wait until an actual appropriate time arises at which to mention it, instead of filling storage space with my irrelevant opinions that nobody asked me for in the first place. I'm not saying that I'm adopting the policy of "don't speak until spoken to"; I just think that saying "because it's there" is not a good reason for putting this stuff on a web site whose purpose has nothing to do with these little musings. And yes, let me clarify one thing: perhaps you've noticed that this site you're reading right now is my own variety of the same site I'm making fun of. I've noticed that. This page is about my thoughts that you might not care for. Some other people's sites I have visited have done the same things. This page, though, does have a coherent purpose: it is showing what things I will NOT include on my site in and of themselves. This one is merely a relevant attachment to my site itself, as its content concerns my original page's, or lack thereof. If ever I want to make a site that lets "the world" (read: my close circle of friends and associates) know what I think about such things I mentioned, I will create a separate one devoted entirely to that purpose. Again, of course, anyone who wanted to know any such thoughts I have on such subjects would either ask me what I thought or wait until I found another appropriate time at which to bring them up. I'll have more later, once I remember some more topics which I purposely wanted to avoid putting on this site. |
