Dr. Spencer Kellerman is considered by many to be one of the foremost experts in robotics and weapons system in the entire country, if not the world. In fact, in the last decade, he's had a hand in designing almost every major innovation in modern weaponry. But that prestige comes with a price -- he was neglecting his wife Fiona and his daughter Jessica. Persuading himself that if he just worked harder, he'd be able to retire in another ten years, Kellerman continued his work on new battlesuit technology.
However, when powerful interests decided they wanted that technology for themselves, Kellerman's wife and daugher were kidnapped by armed thugs, who demanded that he turn his design over to them. Kellerman stubbornly refused, believing that the men were bluffing. Unfortunately, they were not, and his family was brutally slain. Distraught, he quit his research position and threw himself into designing and building his own battlesuit, capable of blasting his enemies with gouts of flame. He took to the streets of Paragon City as the Pyrotechnocrat, determined to track down those who murdered his family.
Unfortunately, Dr. Kellerman was killed while defending civilians from an attack by the Freakshow. He was buried alongside his beloved Fiona and Jessica, and a group of heroes have resolved to crack the mystery of the who killed Kellerman's family. In the meantime, Kellerman's designs live on, thanks to the hero Thundertron.
